Togas and Dormice in the Village Hall!
It was all togas and laurel leaves at Ribchester Village Hall in Friday 25th October, when the Friends of Ribchester Roman Museum hosted a Roman food and wine evening.
Visitors were given a chance to try an authentic Roman meal, which included such delights as Spelt Bread, Lucanian sausage, Vitellian peas, celery with raisin sauce, dates alexandrine and baked dormouse (chicken thighs).
The food was matched by four tastings of modern Italian wines, including Prosecco on arrival and Valpolicella.
The Village Hall was suitably decorated in ancient Roman style and the Friends committee very bravely dressed in Roman togas for the evening.
